2019 Project

As part of your study of the Age of Discovery, Scientific Revolution, and the Enlightenment, you will assume the persona of a leading historical figure and bring them back to life to apply for a job in modern times!

Learning Objectives

• Understanding of the significance of an important figure from one of the time periods we studied
• Develop further your research and synthesis skills
• Develop further your written and oral interview skills

Project Process

Each of these steps is explained on additional pages in this interview project packet:

1. Conduct research.

• Choose a historical figure from the Scientific Revolution or the Enlightenment.
• Conduct research using a variety of required, reliable, relevant sources (see libguide).
• Choose a fitting job position with a modern organization from a list we provide.

2. Create a complete interview presentation

• CV (Curriculum Vitae)
• Cover letter
• Works Cited with annotated entries (this is very important)
• Thank you letter

3. Practice for your interview.
4. Land that job!—by successfully promoting your figure, in character, at a mock interview.

Assessment

Your final grade will be based on the following:

• Process (research, Works Cited, thank you letter, time management)   Project
• CV (content, writing, formatting)      Writing
• Cover Letter (content, writing, formatting)     Writing
• Interview Performance         Speaking
